PIRENE

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON BIO SENSING AND IMAGING

Date: 17-19 December 2018

Place: Palazzo Affari Firenze Fiera – Italy

Focus: The ICOBSI conference will take place thanks to the Italian Flagship Nanomax and will present contribution from scientists working in the field of biophotonics, microscopy, nanotechnologies and more generically in life sciences. NANOMAX partners will present results obtained in last eight years research in talks and posters. Speech contributions from National clinicians and European entrepreneurs will respectively focus about unmet clinical needs and industry perspective.

The NANOMAX project: As part of the National Research Plan 2011-2013, the Nanomax Flagship project was approved by the Interministerial Committee for Economic Planning (CIPE) and the Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR), and is coordinated by the Council National Research Council (CNR). In vitro diagnostics (IVD) is one of the areas of biomedicine and, in general, biotechnology, with the highest rates of international development. In Italy there are resources, historical knowledge, and new initiatives to derive innovation both in technology and content. The establishment of a network of laboratories and companies in the sector is a necessity for the development of coordinated and mutually reinforcing priorities in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology. The chances of success of nanotechnology in the biomedical field, and to compete on the international level, are influenced both by the creation of a critical mass and the ability to integrate skills and disciplines in technology (materials technology, ITC , automation, miniaturization, microelectronics, advanced optics, etc) with leading skills and experience in the biomedical field (molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, oncology, etc.). The consortium of the Nanomax project has included groups with complementary skills and studies with several observational and therapeutic approaches: new methods of biosensors, also coupled to complementary techniques and in vivo imaging in medicine, as ultra-sensitive sensor aimed at the quantitative detection of biomarkers of cancer and viral in biological fluids. Moreover, state-of-the-art detection schemes (optical, mechanical and electrical) have been developed to obtain prototype configurations of increasing complexity and integration. The evolution of technology is guided by criteria of scalability towards the demonstration of a point-of-care (POC) development.
